Overheating concerns in South Georgia
ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Although South Georgia may get some showers to cool things off, the summer is just getting started.
That means taking time to make sure you know the warning signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion including:
- Muscle cramps
- Heavy sweating
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
Andrea Jackson, a nurse and a mother, says especially living in South Georgia, you have to watch your body and listen to what it's telling you.
"Your heart rate does go up, you start getting kinda off balance, kinda staggering sometimes when you're walking, kinda stumble a little bit, and that's a sign that something's not right with your body," says Jackson.
Jackson also tells us it's important to watch your kids or others who have been outside in the heat for extended periods of time, make sure they are taking breaks and drinking plenty of water.
