ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The city of Sylvester is trying to beautify the community, starting with blighted properties.
Code enforcement officials have been monitoring properties that aren't being taken care of.
A home on South Livingston was one of them. Officials demolished the home Wednesday.
Code enforcement has a long process it goes through in order to get permission to demolish the properties.
In the end, a judge makes a ruling about the properties.
"Blighted properties are just an eyesore and some things we just don't need in our neighborhoods," explained Sylvester Code Enforcement Director Issac Adams. "Rodents and also criminal background, criminal stuff that can be happening in there."
Crews will demolish another home near the city center Thursday on South Main Street.
