THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The man accused of using pepper spray in two Moultrie armed robberies in July has been arrested, according to Captain Steve Jones with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.

Jones said Karon "Turtle" Caldwell was taken into custody just before 10 p.m. on Thursday after warrants were issued for his arrest.

According to Jones, he was caught in the 3500 block of Russell Road.

Moultrie police said Caldwell went into two different package stores and made a purchase.

When the clerk opened the drawer, police say he pepper sprayed the clerk, took the money and ran.

Caldwell was wanted for the following counts:

  • 1 count armed robbery
  • 1 count criminal attempt to commit armed robbery
  • 2 counts of aggravated assault
