‘Had bills to pay’: Albany Harveys cashier admits to pocketing money

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A cashier at the Harveys Supermarket in the 2300 block of Slappey Boulevard is facing charges after store officials said he stole thousands of dollars.

Store officials told police that Rickey Washington was pocketing money he claimed was for items customers returned to the store.

Investigators told WALB that Washington admitted to stealing between $2,000 and $4,000 in money and merchandise over a six month period.

Washington told police he was struggling and had bills to pay.

He's charged with two counts of computer theft.
