LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found near the Lowndes County and Brooks County line Thursday afternoon.
According to Sheriff Ashley Paulk, a CSX train conductor, heading east near the Withlacoochee River, spotted what appeared to be a body around 4 p.m. and called authorities.
Paulk said that when deputies arrived they did find a body and it appeared the person had been dead for about four or five days based on decomposition.

Paulk said there is no way to determine the cause of death until there is an autopsy.
The body is said to be a white male, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing between 140 to 150 pounds.
