Decatur Co. man jailed after telling 911 he 'killed someone with ax'

DECATUR CO., GA (WALB) - Investigators say a man is behind bars and a victim is recovering after being attacked with an ax in Decatur County.

It happened at on Mount Olive Road around 5:30 Monday evening.

Officials said the victim arrived at the home and was hit multiple times with a weapon in the head and arms.

They also said Cameron Slade called 911 and told operators he killed someone with an ax.

When first responders arrived on the scene, the victim was still breathing. They were air lifted to airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and then later transferred to UF SHANDS in Gainesville for amputations.

Officials don't have an update on their condition.

Slade was arrested in connection to the incident, booked into the Decatur County Jail.

Officials said that Slade told them he was high on meth when he was arrested.

No bond is listed and he is facing a charge of aggravated assault.
