NAACP to host meeting after controversial search of Worth Co. High students

WORTH CO., GA (WALB) - The Worth County NAACP chapter is inviting parents and students of Worth County High School to meet with civil rights attorneys Thursday night.

The NAACP sponsored meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Margaret Jones Library in the Sumner Room located at 205 East Pope Street in Sylvester.

Organizers said that Lawyers from the Southern Center of Civil Rights in Atlanta will meet with families who feel their children were violated during Friday's search and pat down of students.

On Wednesday, WALB learned that the Worth County Sheriff's office has called in the GBI to investigate the allegations of inappropriate contact by deputies during that search.
