THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A Thomasville child, 8, is in critical condition after troopers said he was run over by a golf cart.

This happened Sunday afternoon on Oak Trace Drive off of Old Monticello Road in Thomasville.

Troopers said an 11-year-old was driving the golf cart, with three other kids riding on it.

Troopers believe the 8-year-old ran out in front of the cart and was hit.

"We're early in the investigation. What we have learned so far is that we believe the children were playing some type of game that would involve the children to run around the golf cart. The golf cart was being operated in the roadway," said GSP Post Commander, Tommy Peeples.

The child was immediately taken to Archbold Hospital in Thomasville after the accident.

He was later transferred to Tallahassee Memorial due to the severity of his injuries.
