Tift County sees more expansion, bringing jobs
TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Construction on a 62,000-square-foot distribution facility is underway at the industrial park in Tifton.
Piedmont National Corporation and the Tift County Development Authority made the announcement Thursday, saying the project will create more than 30 local jobs, and the company expect to be operational in Tifton by early summer.
Piedmont National is the Southeast's largest independent full-line distributor of high-quality packaging products, machinery solutions and facility supplies.
"Our Tifton location will allow us to continue serving our existing customers and expand Piedmont National's ability to reach a larger geographic area with regularly scheduled delivery capabilities," said Jerry Milner, Piedmont National's executive vice president.
"In association with a shift in coverage areas for our Dothan, Alabama facility, our new location will offer twice weekly deliveries into the Macon area and weekly deliveries to most other areas in South and South-central Georgia," Milner said. "The Marx family and all Piedmont National associates are very excited to continue our growth in such a dynamic area as Tifton, and look forward to being an active member of the community."
Development Authority Chief Brian Marlowe said "Great things continue to happen in Tifton, and we are proud to welcome Piedmont National to our community as they expand their distribution capabilities, providing more efficient and effective services to their customers. We will continue to work very closely with company officials to ensure a successful, long-term partnership."
Piedmont established a new division in Albany in 2010.
