ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An online associates degree is becoming the new normal for many Georgians.
The program at Albany Technical College has been recognized as being one of the top 15 in the state.
Nearly one fourth of students in Georgia are enrolled in at least one online class.
Albany Tech offers close to 40 online programs, ranging from business management to health technology to culinary courses.
The vice president for academic affairs Tanjula Petty said online courses are the most convenient way for many students to get an education.
"It may be because of childcare, it may be because of lack of transportation, it could be a plethora of reasons why people are picking these programs but we are happy at Albany Tech that they are picking the programs and they are thriving in the programs," Petty said.
All of the students enrolled have full access to computer labs on campus as well as workshops and a help desk.
