PELHAM, GA (WALB) - Albert Bufford, 30, is in the Mitchell County jail facing three counts of misdemeanor theft by taking, one count of felony theft by taking, possession of marijuana, possession of Meth, and possession of drug related objects charges.

Bufford worked as a driver for a local meat delivery company in Pelham.

Investigators say that when he would drop off the products, he would only accept cash from the customers. He would then rip up the receipts, and write a new receipt with a smaller amount, and pocket the difference.

Since July 16 of this year, police said Bufford had stolen close to $10,000.

"The company, when they found out what was happening, they came to us, because they found some receipts in the trash," said Investigator Adam Lamb.

When officers confronted Bufford Tuesday, he admitted to officers that he had drugs.

Officers found Meth, marijuana, and a Meth pipe. The Pelham Police Department is still investigating.
