GRADY CO., GA (WALB) - Officials have identified a man who died in a crash last week in Grady County.
It happened early Friday morning.
Jeffrey Chason was killed in the crash.
Grady County Sheriff's investigators said they clocked Chason going 103 miles per hour on Highway 93, just before Pine Park Road.
A chase began after a deputy tried to stop Chason.
The deputy decided to call off the chase for safety reasons.
Chason's family reported him missing later that day after he didn't show up for work.
Investigators said they went looking for Chason later that afternoon.
"They were going slow and looking, when they got to a bridge about two miles down. You could see something had gone off into the woods. You really couldn't see it from there but they went on down and found the victim," said Grady County Sheriff Harry Young.
Chason's family has since set up a memorial at the crash site.
The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating.
