ALBANY, GA (WALB) - 34 year old Kamesha Jackson was bound over following a committal hearing this morning at the Dougherty County jail.
Jackson is charged with aggravated assault and murder in the death of her husband, 39 year old Charles Porter.
An Albany Police investigator testified during the hearing that April 16th their 15 year old son was sleeping with Porter on the couch about 4 AM, when Jackson returned to the home intoxicated.
The son told investigators Jackson started hitting Porter with a belt, and then went in the bedroom, got a knife and stabbed him in the thigh. Police testified Porter's main artery was cut and he bled to death.
"What we have learned is that this is a situation that actually stemming over a ten hour period of time. And there was much more to it than just Miss Jackson stabbing her long time husband with two children," said Jackson's Attorney Phil Cannon.
Jackson sat with her attorney during the testimony, often shaking her head no, and occasionally wiping tears.
Judge John Salter ordered Jackson bound over, meaning that he found enough evidence to continue holding her in jail.
