VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A young man driving over 80 MPH on I-75 was stopped by a Lowndes County deputy Thursday morning.
The deputy noticed Benjamin Wesley Fugate was extremely nervous, and the deputy could also smell an odor of marijuana and saw loose marijuana in the driver's seat.
Fugate agreed to have his car searched, and deputies found marijuana and a bottle that was labeled "Test 400," a form of Testosterone, a Schedule III drug usually imported from Mexico, and several containers of beer.
Fugate was placed under arrest and a deputy located another quantity of marijuana and 10 tabs of LSD on him. He was taken to the Lowndes County Jail and will appear in the Lowndes Co. Magistrate Court this afternoon where a bond will be considered.
The 18 year old from Middleton, Ohio is charged with: Possession of a Schedule III drug, Speeding, Possession of marijuana, Expired tag, and Underage possession of alcohol.
"The persistence of the deputies on the interstate continue to make a difference as the look beyond the routine traffic violation. Getting this person off the road before he hurt himself or someone else is great work," said Sheriff Chris Prine.
