ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A South Georgia school is saying "thank you" to teachers.
Albany High planned several activities for "Teacher Appreciation Week," including a breakfast, lunch, and a drawing for free meals at a restaurant.
They're also putting surprise treats in teacher's mailboxes.
Monday's treat was school supplies.
Officials say it's a small token of their appreciation.
"There's nothing that I could put in the teacher's box or gift that has done the things that these teachers have done for children," said Jill Addison, Albany High School Assistant Principal. "It's almost like they are their own. They take them and sometimes they're staying after school just for one of these students. So we just want to make sure that they know that we appreciate them."
Something else teachers will really appreciate, Governor Nathan Deal signed a new budget that includes raises for teachers.
