ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Firebirds defeated the Myrtle Beach Freedom 56-43 at home Saturday evening.
Things got off to a shaky start for newly promoted starting quarterback Nate Samas. His first two snaps were turnovers which led to 14 points.
The Firebirds trailed 20-2 in the first quarter before making a triumphant comeback in front of the home crowd.
"Shout out to my linemen who blocked for me, allowed me to throw the ball. Receivers catching the ball...running backs running making the right plays," said Samas. "And just glad to get this win on my birthday today."
The Firebirds host the Columbus Lions next Saturday. The same team that blew them out 86-0 in the season opener.
