GBI names robbery suspect shot and killed by deputy

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Investigators released the name of the armed robbery suspect who was shot and killed by a Lowndes County Sheriff's deputy at a gas station.
According to a report by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, 28-year-old Jim Davis Redmond was shot and killed after he pointed a pistol at deputies.
Officials said further information revealed he was wanted on U.S. military charges for desertion out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Investigators also identified who they said was Redmond's female companion as 32-year-old Crystal Griffin Redd.
She was also wanted on embezzlement charges our of Virginia.
The GBI also listed all of the Lowndes County deputies as well as the Georgia State Patrol officer involved in the shooting who were places on administrative leave.

- Matthew Porter
- Will Neel
Georgia State Patrol trooper:
- Brian Bass
The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office and the Hahira Police Department were said to be working on the armed robbery case in question at the Hahira Harveys Supermarket.
