Dog attacks child in Colquitt Co.

COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - Volunteer firefighters, Colquitt County EMS, and Animal Control responded to an animal attack about 9:40 a.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Halls Trail.

When officials arrived on the scene, they found a Great Dane dog had bitten a 9-month-old boy under the eye. Officials were told the child was on his walker in the kitchen when the incident happened.

The child has been transported to a hospital in Macon, needing stitches across the nose and chin.

The dog belonged to the family and is now in custody of animal control. The reason why the dog bit the child is unknown.
