Mayor Harris confirms that Meigs now has insurance

MEIGS, GA - "We will have J.P West Insurance." said Mayor Linda Harris.
Mayor Linda Harris confirmed that the city is now insured with a new carrier, J.P West. The city's previous carrier dropped the city after having to settle multiple lawsuits from city employees.
The police chief and other employees said they couldn't do any work today because the insurance had run out. The mayor also said tonight she wants the city council to consider getting rid of the police department.
Veeva Bass a citizen of Meigs said,"The public does not get any participation, that's one of the problems. Another one of the problems is that we have a mayor that's been put in jail. "No more city hall, no more police, now what are these people supposed to do?"
The council also appointed Cynthia Anderson as the new mayor pro tem to replace a council member who recently resigned. She'll be sworn in at their next meeting.
