WILLACOOCHEE, GA (WALB) - Traffic was snarled Friday morning near Willacoochee, after a semi-truck hauling gas crashed on Highway 82 around 6:00AM, killing the driver.
GSP says 47-year old Timothy Teemer of Albany was killed in the accident.
The wreck happened near Mile Post 5 in the eastbound lane of the highway.
The tanker, carrying 7,500 gallons of fuel, ran into the back of a pick up truck, driven by 73-year old James Gaskins of Willacoochee, who was not injured.
Crews came in to remove the truck, which overturned in a ditch. Hazmat crews responded, but no diesel fuel spilled.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
