Albany Tech gets court simulation lab

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Law enforcement technology students at Albany Technical College will learn what it's like to be in a real courtroom.

The new simulation lab includes furnishings from a courtroom in the old federal courthouse on Broad Avenue.

Pieces like the judge's bench were built in the early 1900's.

Instructor Lynn Miller says she wants students to feel comfortable when they have to appear in court and this will help give them confidence.

“My first subpoena I was very nervous about going into the courtroom. I didn't know what to expect, and I didn't know what was going to happen. So I think giving students an opportunity to experience that before going into the courtroom for real will give them an edge,” says Law Enforcement Technology Instructor Lynn Miller.

Miller says they plan to do lots of mock trials and hearings to get students prepared.
