DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - A man has died after an officer-involved shooting in Douglas, which happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
According to officials, a woman called police and told them she had been shot in the hand at 1404 North June Ave.
Douglas Police officers arrived later and found a man on the front porch pointing a gun at his chin, and making statements that he had two weapons. They ordered him to drop the gun, and that's when they said he pointed it at one of the officers.
One officer shot and hit the man, who was not identified, in the stomach. He was then taken to an area hospital. Officials confirmed later that he died.
Douglas Police Chief Casteloes is expected to make a statement late Tuesday afternoon.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to investigate.
