ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A 28-year-old Albany woman was shot inside her South Albany home and now police are on the lookout for the gunman.

Emotions ran high on South Cleveland Street as neighbors watched emergency responders wheel the body of 28-year-old Jessica Bryant out of her home, and into an ambulance.

Albany Police say Bryant was shot and killed inside her home just before 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

"I didn't believe it until I got down here and I saw her Aunt crying and then I started crying myself," said Cedric Shiloh, Bryant's Friend. "I couldn't believe it was her."

Cedric Shiloh is mourning the loss of his friend of 15 years. He says they would always talk, and he would give her advice.

"She would tell me about some problems that she was having," said Shiloh. "I would talk to her and she just said thank you. She always said thank you, she always called me Uncle Ced."

Neighbors say Bryant had just moved into her home a few days ago with her two young children.

"She didn't bother anybody," said Shiloh.

As Albany police search for Bryant's killer, Shiloh is hoping the gunman will come forward.

"I really just hope the police catch them," said Shiloh. "I mean, I'm not the best guy in the world myself, but I just hope they catch them. I mean that."

An autopsy will be performed on Monday. Albany police say the case remains under investigation. No arrests or charges have been filed.

This is the fifth homicide in Albany this year. Anybody with information should contact police or call Crimestoppers at 436-TIPS.
