Two arrested in Albany shoplifting cases

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police have arrested two suspects in connection to six shoplifting cases at stores in Albany.

According to a report, officers responded to a shoplifting call Wednesday afternoon and learned the suspects, who were not immediately named, had driven away in a stolen car.

The two were found at the Rite-Aid on Dawson Road where officers were able to block-in the car they were in. They were immediately taken into custody.

Charges are pending in the investigation, and said the two were linked to at least five other shoplifting cases dating back to July.

Police also said they found a 2-year-old child inside the stolen car, who was determined to be dehydrated. The child was taken to the hospital for observation. Officers also contacted the Department of Family and Children Services.
