VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - An early morning hit and run accident in Valdosta sent one man to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of Inner Perimeter Road and Copeland Road.

A van on Inner Perimeter swerved to miss a truck that pulled out in front of it off of Copeland Road. The van ran down a grassy embankment and crashed into the fence surrounding a nearby church.

"The van was traveling North on Perimeter Road," explained GSP Trooper Israel Hendley. "An unknown vehicle pulled out in front of [it] here on Copeland Road. The van took some evasive maneuvers to avoid hitting the vehicle."

Trooper Hendley described the truck as a gray, Ford F150. He said the accident is being treated as a hit and run, and law enforcement is looking for the truck.
