PIFL announces Georgia Fire to take Panthers' place

ROME, GA (WALB) - The franchise formerly known as the Albany Panthers has taken on a new life.

The PIFL has announced the Georgia Fire will compete in the league this season, operating out of Rome, Georgia.

The Fire will assume the Panthers' 2014 schedule and signed roster.

Former Panthers head coach Lucious Davis was offered the Fire's head coaching position, but turned it down.

The Fire begin play April 5th when they host the Alabama Hammers.
