One robbery suspect arrested, one at large in Moultrie
MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - After two robberies, the manager of the Chevron Gas station in Moultrie says he's taking steps to try to prevent any more robberies.
Take a look at this surveillance video of a black Honda Passport pulling up to the back side of the Chevron Gas station on Veterans Parkway a little after 12 this morning. A man gets out of the car and walks inside. The masked man dressed in purple pulls out a pistol and walks over to the cashier and fires a shot as he demands money. The robber walks out and gets back into the car. He got away with nearly $600. This second robbery in only a week has store manager Guru Sckhon scared.
"Surprised too, that this happens in such a peaceful town it use to be a peaceful town it still is," said Guru Sckhon.
You can still see the mark the bullet left on the floor behind the counter. Just moments after the robbery Moultrie police found the vehicle in the 400 block of 7th Ave NW.
"A traffic stop commenced and both a driver and the suspect fled," said Inv. Raul Leal.
Officers caught the driver 26-year-old Demetrius Sinclair of Moultrie. The shooter remains at large. Now Sckhon is stepping up security at his store.
"I told them to close the doors now, 12 o'clock close the doors open the doors only if you know the people," said Sckhon.
Sckhon is now asking police to patrol the area more often and Moultrie police are accepting his request.
"Right now we are coordinating with the patrol division and we're working on a plan to get that addressed," said Inv. Leal.
No one was hurt in the robbery. Sinclair remains in the Colquitt County Jail. Sinclair is charged with aggravated assault and robbery. If you have any information that might help police catch the man, pleased call Moultrie PD at (229) 985-3131.
