Firefighters battle two fires within a block from each other

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Firefighters had to battle two fires Thursday night within a block of each other.

Fire trucks responded to Leonard Ave at a vacant house when they realized there was another fire occurring on Cone Street in another vacant house.

Fire crews believe the two fires were started by an arsonist, they aren't sure yet if both fires were started by the same person.

"It's just happened stance, I'm not sure if they are related or not, possible they are, I'm going to leave that with the arson investigators, will be working with him see if we can find the root of all this," said Daniel Potter, Battalion Chief, Albany Fire Department.
