Arrest made in overnight burglary

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Willie Hayes, age 47, is in the Lowndes County jail, after he was arrested this morning on burglary charges.

Valdosta Police say that about 3:05 AM, the Valdosta Police Department responded to an alarm at the Enmark Convenience Store on East Park Avenue.

Officers arrived and found that one of the window panes had been broken out, but there was no one inside. A store manager said that several cartons of cigarettes and several cases of beer were stolen.

They checked the store's security system, and an alert was given out with the description of the burglar and the vehicle he was driving.

Soon, officers stopped a vehicle and interviewed the driver, Willie Hayes, who was identified as the person from the video.

Several cartons of cigarettes and cases of beer were found inside the vehicle.

Hayes was arrested without incident and transported to the Lowndes County Jail. Hayes faces charges for Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property.
