Crisp County school superintendent retires

CORDELE, GA (WALB) - The Crisp County school system will have a new superintendent starting Wednesday.

A reception Tuesday evening honored Jay Brinson after his last day on the job.

He served as superintendent for 3 and a half years, but spent more than two decades in the school system, including 7 years as principal at Crisp County High School.

Brinson says he'll miss seeing children grown up into responsible young adults.

"Schools are so rich with people who care so deeply and work so hard that that's the thing I'll miss the  most and being able to see the kids grow," said Brinson.

Rhonda Hayes will take over Wednesday as the new superintendent.
