TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Are you prepared for an emergency on the road?

According to a new survey by State Farm and KRC research, only 10% of drivers keep key emergency supplies in their vehicles.

Department of Transportation officials say drivers should be prepared with emergency roadside supplies such as jumper cables, a spare tire, a flashlight, and water.

"Traveling on the interstate we do come across motorists that are stranded, they can be prepared by having jumper cables, water, and a cell phone," says Brian Fincher, DOT District Safety Officer.

It is important to check the equipment twice a year to make sure it is working properly.
