LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Lee County's new Oakland Library and Conference Center opens Tuesday.

The nearly 24 ,000 square foot building includes an 8,000 square foot conference center and a library capable of housing 50,000 books.

More than 80% of the population of Lee County lives in the Southern portion of the county, so the library will better serve them.

"Well the whole south area of the county doesn't have a library so hopefully it will be closer for them, we have had a lot of people who are excited because they are like, 'oh it is right across the street from my house'," says Kathryn Millikan, Circulation Manager.

The building will officially open at 5:30 Tuesday afternoon at a Lee County Business after Hours function.
