Folks in Grady County rolled downed their car windows and rolled up their sleeves Tuesday afternoon for a flu clinic.

CAIRO, GA (WALB) - The Grady County Health Department hosted the drive-thru flu shot clinic Tuesday at the State Farmer's Market in Cairo.

Health officials also used this event as an emergency preparedness drill.

"If there was a pandemic flu we would need to give the vaccine to the entire population of Grady County. So this is run through to see how long it would take to set up, how long it would take to get people through. And so we are kind of combining it with the seasonal flu," said County Nurse Manager Peggy Connell.

An average of 36,000 Americans die from the flu every year.
