Members of an Albany organization flipped burgers, Friday, to raise awareness about community services.

Albany Family Empowerment Community Center hosted its 2nd "Bangin' Burger Friday" to help raise awareness about the services the organizations provide.

They help people who receive government assistance to realize that should be help out of a situation and shouldn't be relied on for a lifetime.

"Here at the center, we're wanting to provide families, ladies and young men with opportunities and with options. We want to open their eyes and help them discover a world of possibilities through our job training program, workshops and our classes," said Bridgett Mack.

Event organizers say they want to break the stereotypes that everybody who receives government assistance wants to continue on that track. They say that's far from true.
