Home invasion suspect shot, killed in Tift Co.

TIFTON (WALB) – A suspect in a Tift County home invasion was shot and killed Saturday night.

Sheriff's investigators say the suspect broke in a home at 2914 Wilton Avenue and demanded money from the elderly home owner. The homeowner's son was in another room, heard the commotion, and shot the home invader in the head.

The suspect, who was dead when deputies arrived, is identified as 19-year-old Roosevelt Clark.

His body has been to sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Macon for autopsy.

Because Clark was armed, police say no charges will be filed against the man who shot him.

Clark's criminal history was not available early Sunday but sheriff's officials say he had previously been held in the Tift County Jail.
