Americus, GA - (WALB) - The kids at the Americus-Sumter Boys and Girls Club are probably pretty tired after their workout from the Atlanta Falcons. The Dirty Birds taught the kids about fitness with a free health workshop.

The energy was high at the Falcons fitness clinic. The kids stomped, clapped, and dove to get in-shape like their sports heroes.

Khatavia Franks says soaring through this was the best part. "Like football players, when they dash through the people and they're going up on them, they're supposed to run through

And the kids don't just get to work on their passing game. As part of Michelle Obama's 'Get Fit' plan, the Falcons came into town to show how to mix fitness and fun.

And that combination helps kids both physically and mentally.

"This is something that they otherwise would never have had the opportunity to participate in had it not been for the Boys and Girls Club, and just to be a part of something as huge as the Atlanta Falcons franchise, it really is a joyful occasion, " said Lori Clemons.

Falcons Youth Programs Manager Chris Millman says that joy is what it's all about.  "We're not out here today teaching X's and O's or blitz packages or cover to defense or anything like that. This is a simple way to show that football is a lot of fun for both boys and girls."

Millman said if the workshop was successful, the kids should be exhausted.

No Falcons players attended the camp. NFL owners locked out the players because of an ongoing labor dispute, so players can't take part in official team events.
