ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Dougherty Drug Unit is alerting stores and potential customers that drugs called "Bath Salts" are now illegal in Georgia.

Governor Nathan Deal signed a bill into law classifying them as schedule one controlled substances.

Bath salts give abusers a meth-like high when they are snorted or injected.

Drug Agents say bath salts can be deadly.

Intent today is to let everybody know it is now against the law to possess or sell that, so we are going to be watching and checking.

So that they can be aware. Heads up. It's against the law now.

Possession or sale of bath salts is now a felony, and Drug Agents warn they will charge violators.
