ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A domestic dispute at an Albany motel left two people wounded. Police say the boyfriend wouldn't let his girlfriend leave the motel. She says she shot him in self defense.
Police responded to room 201 at Americas Best Value Inn on North Slappey boulevard before midnight. The victim, Tereka Green, says she shot Willie Curry in the right shoulder.
Green tells police Curry got angry with her. He pulled out a knife and cut her chest just below her right breast and inside her right hand.
Green said she got a handgun and shot Willie Curry in the right shoulder in self defense.
She was able to get away. Police say Curry showed up at her home at 1518 West Highland Avenue later Friday night.
Officers did not arrest or charge anyone. Curry was treated and released from the hospital Friday night. They will continue questioning Green and Curry regarding this investigation.
The victim's cousin did not want to speak to us on camera regarding the assault. The clerk at the front desk says Curry was a regular customer, and had not suspected anything prior to the assault.
The motel has had other reported crimes. The latest was in September when two masked men robbed a mother and her daughter early in the morning. We'll bring you updates on this shooting as soon as police release more information.
