LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) –A dangerous sinkhole forced the closure of a Lowndes County road.

Work crews tried to fix it, but so far, nothing has worked.

This huge sinkhole was reported on Snake Nation Road around 10:30 Saturday morning. Workers poured truckloads of concrete in it, but weren't able to close it. Lowndes County spokesperson Paige Dukes says they're working with geologists and the engineers to find a solution.

"Well there was a lady coming out with her child with her and she said as soon as she drove across it it caved in behind her," said Aaron Parten, who lives near the sinkhole.

Snake Nation road remains closed. A sinkhole opened in that same spot in June 2007. It was 8 to 10 feet in diameter and 65 feet deep. County officials aren't sure the size of this one yet.
