Woman charged with animal cruelty after choking dog in ‘disturbing’ video, sheriff says
LEMON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) - An Ohio woman is facing charges after authorities say her actions were caught on camera.
According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Katelin Conklin has been charged with cruelty to animals and domestic violence.
The 28-year-old was arrested after the sheriff’s office said it was made aware Monday of a “disturbing” video that was posted on social media.
Authorities said the video shows Conklin punching her boyfriend and choking a dog.
The dog is heard in the video struggling to breathe, the sheriff’s office said. Conklin also “forcefully” threw the dog to the ground.
Deputies went to a home on Buena Avenue to investigate the video. The 28-year-old was arrested after talking with Conklin and her boyfriend, the sheriff’s office said.
“This type of behavior is unacceptable,” Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said. “We take both domestic violence and animal cruelty very seriously and we will always pursue charges when the evidence supports it.”
