Man found dead in Leesburg motel, suspect charged with murder

The suspect is currently in the Lee County Jail.

LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - One man is dead and another is charged with murder following a homicide investigation in Leesburg.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Fairfax Motel where they found Benjamin Musselwhite, 51, of Cordele, dead, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

GBI agents identified Collier King, 27, of Leesburg, as a suspect and charged him with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Felony murder
  • Malice murder
  • Possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony

He is currently in the Lee County Jail.
