JASPER, Fla. (WALB) - A man was killed in a shootout with authorities near the Georgia-Florida line after allegedly shooting and killing three people in Florida.

According to a press release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), deputies received a Be on the Look Out alert for a triple homicide suspect from the Manatee County area.

At around 12:55 a.m., HCSO deputies located the suspect’s vehicle headed north on I-75 in Jasper, Florida. Two people were in the vehicle, a Black male driver and a Black female passenger.

Deputies confirmed to WALB that Javontee Brice, 28, allegedly was on his way to Georgia to kill a fourth person. It is unclear where in Georgia he was headed.

As deputies conducted a felony traffic stop at the Exxon parking lot in Jasper, the driver was identified as the homicide suspect. He left the vehicle and began firing at deputies, according to the release.

A video from popular TikToker, Kelton Allen, shows the gas station in Jasper moments after shots stopped between Brice and Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies.

According to officials, Javantee Brice, 28, has allegedly killed three people and was on his way to Georgia to kill a fourth person.

“I was traveling over to the Arby’s at the Loves gas station to get a quick snack late at night, and then I suddenly see a flood of red and blue lights so I was curious as to what was going on,” Allen said.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Brice allegedly killed three women, including his mother, and 1st cousin around 9 p.m. on Monday night ending around 10 p.m.

“Although this incident didn’t originate here, it still affected our community with this ending in a shoot-out. Things like this affect everyone,” Allen said.

According to the Manatee County sheriff, Brice killed his mother and two other adult women in Florida.

“We don’t know why he chose to kill his loved ones...We may never know but we are going to continue to investigate,” Wells said.

In a press conference at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Manatee County said after a statewide “Be On the Lookout” for Brice’s vehicle multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in tracking Brice to Hamilton County, near the state line.

Detectives in Manatee County said they learned that Brice was traveling to Georgia with the intent to kill another ex-girlfriend. He had another woman in the car with him during his travels. She was not injured during the shootout with deputies, but it’s currently unclear how she fits into this case.

Two deputies returned fire and killed Brice. Both deputies were unharmed in the incident.

The passenger was identified as Breonna Monique Davis. She was not injured in the incident and is not facing charges, according to the release.

HCSO requested the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to investigate the deputy-involved shooting.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the triple homicide.

According to the release, this is an isolated incident with no current threat to Hamilton County residents.

WALB is waiting to confirm further details with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office as they continue to investigate this incident.
