ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Officials with the Albany Fire Department (AFD) are investigating a house fire that killed one person Sunday morning.

At around 5:40 a.m., AFD recieved a call about a fire in a single-story house in the 2400 block of Lakeshore Drive. Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler told WALB that Douglas James Albert, Jr., 66, was inside at the time of the fire.

Officials say heavy fire and smoke were coming from the house when crews arrived.

When crews went inside, they found Albert had already passed away in a bedroom.

No other injuries were reported.

The fire has since been put out.

The fire is still under investigation
