Suspects arrested in Dawson homicide investigation

DAWSON, Ga. (WALB) - Two men are now facing charges in connection to a December shooting death in 2023.

Lawrence Jones, 22, was shot and killed on Dec. 16, in the 400 block of NE 14th Avenue, according to the Dawson Police Department.

Two Sasser men, Shy ‘Rico Johnson, 19, and Zachary Purvis, 23, are now facing murder charges brought by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, per a police statement.

Johnson and Purvis are currently in the Terrell County Jail.

Police say the investigation is still active and more arrests are possible.
