THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) - The Thomas County Central Yellowjackets made a statement in the 6A Region on Saturday. The Jackets defense stifled a potent Houston County offense in route to a 27-0 shutout win. Led on defense by Dee Reddick and Caleb Anderson they held 4-star quarterback Antwan “AJ” Hill Jr. to 63 yards passing. Hill is ranked 6th at the position in the country. Motivation was high for Central, news broke early Friday that Hill recently committed to play for coach Prime at Colorado. Head coach Justin Rogers and company overcame turnovers and offensive miscues. After leading just 7-0 at the half, the Jackets sophomore quarterback Jaylen Johnson hit Jikevious Jones for a 68-yard touchdown. They would get Trey Brenton and the running game going in the fourth tacking on two more scores. Brenton finished with more than 100-yards on the ground and Johnson threw two touchdown passes in route to victory.

Things don’t get easier for Central, they will host Lee County for the region championship Friday night at the Nest. The Yellowjackets and Trojans are both undefeated in region play. Last season it was a well executed game plan for the blue and gold, getting the 39-30 win and putting a stamp on their undefeated regular season.
