2 dead, 1 injured after car crash in Decatur Co.
Second separate crash under investigation
BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - Two people are dead and one has been severely injured after a car crash in Decatur County, according to Decatur County officials.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) responded to a single-vehicle crash just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday on Highway 27 North at the county line.
Police say witnesses told them that the car was traveling at a high speed when it swerved off the road, hit a tree and then caught fire.
A Florida mother and her two daughters were inside the vehicle, officials confirmed. Both the mother and one daughter were killed. The second daughter was taken by medical helicopter to a Florida burn specialist because of severe burns.
A second crash happened on Highway 27 South near Woodhull Road, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) confirmed.
The tractor-trailer crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 27 North near Carolina Carports. The condition of those involved in that crash is currently unknown.
