FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) - Fitzgerald girls soccer team hosted Model High school in their sweet 16 matchup.

In the first..

It was 28 minutes left and the canes were setting up for a penalty kick..

It was Phoebe Prescott against and the keeper and Prescott found the back of the net.

Canes tied the game up 1-1.

15 minutes left in the 1st, and Prescott was back to work.

She split two defenders and got by the keeper for her second goal in the game.

canes took lead 2-1.

In the 2nd half, Amy Rojo was battling with Madison Parker in the box and Parker kicked it into Mallory Peavey’s skull and it went in for a goal.

The lady canes won 5 to 2 and are now on to the elite eight.

”These girls they went out last year on Model in a shootout which left a bad taste in their mouth so a little bit of revenge I guess as well, which played to our advantage tonight. The girls played hard, played through every whistle and that’s at the end of the game and it took us to the win” said Head coach, Jahyna Anderson.

“I was just focused on playing to the best of my ability. I wasn’t expecting a certain amount of goals or anything. I just wanted to play as hard as I could” said Phoebe Prescott.

Sweet revenge it was for the canes. They will play Union County on Monday.
