Baconton Charter baseball believes deep run is in the cards
BACONTON, Ga. (WALB) - Postseason play within high school baseball is now just a week away, and our previews continue over in Baconton.
The Blazers are hard at work, with goals of making a deep run within Single-A Public.
The Blazers are region champions this season, boasting 17 wins, all under first year head coach Ryan Davis.
The guys believe they are playing some of their best baseball at just the right time and it’s a team that is ready for what this final chapter has to offer.
“We’ve worked all year long to be here in this position where we haven’t been recently,” said junior shortstop Will Worsham. “For the past two years we didn’t make it very far but we have worked really hard this year to get here so I think we’re ready. Our confidence definitely built up with some of the harder teams we’ve played like 2A schools so I think we’re going into it pretty confident.”
“I think they’ve kind of started realizing the last two weeks that we can play, that we can really play at a high level,” said Coach Davis. “They are starting to buy into that and I think you know, they are starting to smell the blood a little bit, so I’m excited. We’re young again, but the mindset that these kids have is incredible, they know the task at hand and no matter what happens our motto is play the next pitch, and they have really bought into that and they are just going to keep grinding, and we’re going to keep working and hope for what is best.”
And the guys will look to stay hot when they meet Webster County on Thursday night.
