Miss Albany dreams big heading into Miss Georgia competition
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - With a ball gown, crown and a dream, one Albany 19-year-old is looking to make a change across the Peach State.
Jilian Hanna, Miss Albany 2020, said she will be the longest ranking Miss Albany in history.
She said during the pandemic, many titleholders held on to their roles as competitions were halted. Now, she’s heading into the Miss Georgia competition with high hopes.
She said the role is more than just a pretty face and a crown and that it is hard work. Hanna said she’s got the work ethic and spirit to get make change possible.
“My entire reason for getting into this, applying for this job, is in order to make an impact, change on other people. My social impact initiative is ‘Readers to Leaders,’ where I’m trying to make an effect on the literacy in the state of Georgia,” explained Hanna.
On Friday, she will head to Columbus to compete in the Miss Georgia competition. She said she’s not stressed but ready for the stage.
Hanna said this is her first time winning Miss Albany and competing for Miss Georgia.
The Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition will be from June 14-19.
