Safety app being tested in Albany by community members

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An app that gives you direct contact with law enforcement is now being tested in Albany.

The Guardian Angel app is a way for users to anonymously report crimes to law enforcement.

There is also an SOS option that will notify police and emergency services if you need help.

City Commissioner Chad Warbington said this is a great tool for citizens and law enforcement.

“it’s just allowing citizens to have a method of communicating directly with the police to share information, or even get alerts from the police if an incident happens. If there’s a wreck or some notice, the police need to get out this is another way to do it,” said Warbington.

He said right now they are in the trial phase for the app. He says if the app gets good feedback, their next discussion would be funding.

Warbington said they should have feedback from the community on the app in just a few weeks.
